THE ARTIST
Internationally recognized for his exquisite portraits and exceptional art, American artist Carl J. Samson (b. 1961) is powerfully proficient in all painting genres: portraiture, figurative, still life and landscape. Classically trained in the US and abroad, Carl believes strongly in the importance of mastering all facets of painting, to bring a rare and distinctive sensibility to the art of painting. This multi-faceted approach resulted in repeat wins - both the Grand Prize, and the Distinguished Achievement Award at the National Portrait Competition, his unanimous election as Chairman of the Governing Board for the former American Society of Portrait Artists, his receipt of top prize by the Butler Institute of American Art, and his work being purchased by the Cincinnati Art Museum. Carl's multi-figured compositions have garnered important commissions throughout the U.S, and his landscape paintings from abroad and within the U.S. have been acquired by discerning collectors. His strong characterizations, drawing, color perception, composition and interpretation of form are second to none.
