WORKSHOPS, PAINTING DEMONSTRATIONS, MENTORING
Carl Samson excels at teaching in a variety of positions and venues. Known to be especially articulate in elucidating painterly principles, he leads workshops, performs portrait and painting demonstrations and mentors artists privately.
A long term goal of Carl’s is to develop a more formal arrangement to teach regularly in the Cincinnati area. Meanwhile, he is available for lectures, demonstrations, seminars and workshops worldwide.
Current Workshops:
”Frank Duveneck and the Art of Interpreting Form.”
This advanced 5 day intensive workshop in the historic Wessel House Studio offers a broad exploration of Duveneck’s exceptional understanding of form, his approach as described by those who witnessed it, and what we can apply in our own studios from a careful study of his work. Described as “the greatest talent of the brush” by John Singer Sargent, artist Frank Duveneck is regarded by many as the “Father of American Art.”

Mentoring:
Carl has and will continue to offer mentoring services at the Wessel House Studio to qualified individuals. Contact Carl here for availability and fees. Requirements include sending examples of your work showing suitable drawing skills; i.e. - a strong aptitude for seeing shapes accurately.
Lectures:
Carl has lectured about painting at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, business clubs, arts centers, galleries and classes. He most recently talked about creativity to an Osher Life Long Learning Institute group studying entrepreneurship and creativity. Future plans include occasional lectures and/or salons at the historic Wessel House and Studio near Eden Park in Cincinnati.
